Nashville PDCEN

The Nashville Post Deployment Cardiopulmonary Evaluation Network (PDCEN) is located at the Nashville VA Medical Center (VAMC). As part of the PDCEN, the Nashville VAMC provides specialized and comprehensive clinical evaluations to Veterans who develop chronic respiratory symptoms during or after deployment. Additionally, we work with VA and Vanderbilt University Medical Center investigators to perform basic, translational, and clinical research to better understand how respiratory disease develops after deployment, how it affects the health of affected Veterans over time, and how it can be non-invasively diagnosed.

Site Director, Dr. Bradley Richmond, is board-certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. In addition to his role with the PDCEN, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His research focuses on how chronic inflammation alters epithelial differentiation in the airways and the consequences of altered epithelial differentiation on host defense and microbial community structure.

Join Our Team

We are actively recruiting an advanced practice nurse practitioner and post-doctoral fellows interested in applying spatial transcriptomics to the study of deployment-related lung disease. Contact Dr. Richmond at Bradley.Richmond@va.gov for additional details.
