Whole Health - Women’s Operational Military Exposure Network Center of Excellence (WOMEN CoE)
Whole Health
An important part of our work at the Women’s Operational Military Exposure Network Center of Excellence is to provide clinical consultations on nutrition and health & wellness for our Veterans.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
Health and wellness are separate, but similar, aspects of wellbeing. Health includes physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. Wellness includes one’s overall view of his/her/their health and the aim to flourish in each area. WOMEN CoE is dedicated to the support of our women and gender diverse Veteran’s health and wellness. We aim to provide care to address the individual needs of each Veteran and consider all aspects that contribute to their unique concerns that may be different from male Veterans.
NUTRITION
Nutrition plays a key role in one’s overall health, and even more so when any compromise in body systems has occurred. Macro- and micronutrients, along with vitamins and minerals and adequate fluid, are the critical building blocks for cells, muscles, organs, and tissues to repair. Without adequate nutritional guidance from a trained professional (ideally a registered dietitian), this process is likely hindered and possibly halted altogether. The CA WRIISC includes evidenced-based nutrition therapy in Veteran care as well as provider education. Improving the dietary intake of Veterans is one of the key foundations to their optimal health in all stages of life, and the CA WRIISC is dedicated to this mission.
